Due to the current foot-and-mouth disease situation, the meeting of the ESF WG Simmental Beef on April 26, 2025 in Brno is cancelled!
Aufgrund der aktuellen MKS -Situation wird die Sitzung der EVF AG Simmental Beef am 26.04.2025 in Brünn abgesagt!
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am really sorry to inform you that after discussions with the other associations and our partners we had to decide to cancel the National show in Brno which was supposed to took place at the end of April. This is due to the fact that there were confirmed outbrakes of foot-and-mouth disease in Hungary, and today morning also in Slovakia. Brno is not very far from the FMD affected farms in Slovakia and Hungary and the main task now is to protect the Czech farms from the infection. I strongly believe that you have understanding for the fact that Czech breeders are extremely afraid of this situation and they are not willing to take any risks their herds to be infected by FMD.
Based on today's meeting of the committee members, we have come to a clear decision that due to the high concerns of breeders, we are unfortunately unable to organise farm visits. We do not want to endanger the health of Czech herds nor expose you to the risk of introducing the disease abroad.
If the veterinary situation allows, we are looking for opportunities to organise the meeting in an alternative autumn date. Whether it would be only in connection with the official meeting together with the farm-visits, or supplemented by an exhibition, the following weeks and months will show. The situation in Slovakia is currently new to us and we are therefore unable to predict its development right now.
I am sure that you can imagine how we are sorry about those complications, but I firmly believe that you - as breeders - will have full understanding.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
Es tut mir wirklich leid, Ihnen mitteilen zu müssen, dass wir nach den Gesprächen mit den anderen Zuchtorganisationen und unseren Partnern entschieden haben, die nationale Schau in Brünn, die Ende April stattfinden sollte, abzusagen. Der Grund dafür ist, dass in Ungarn bestätigte Ausbrüche der Maul- und Klauenseuche (MKS) gemeldet wurden und heute Morgen auch in der Slowakei. Brünn liegt nicht weit von den betroffenen Betrieben in der Slowakei und Ungarn entfernt, und unsere wichtigste Aufgabe ist es nun, die tschechischen Betriebe vor einer Infektion zu schützen. Ich bin mir sicher, dass Sie Verständnis dafür haben, dass die tschechischen Züchter in großer Sorge sind und kein Risiko eingehen möchten, dass sich ihre Bestände mit MKS infizieren.
Auf Grundlage der heutigen Sitzung der Ausschussmitglieder sind wir einstimmig zu dem Entschluss gekommen, dass wir aufgrund der großen Besorgnis der Züchter leider keine Betriebsbesuche organisieren können. Wir möchten weder die Gesundheit der tschechischen Bestände gefährden noch Sie dem Risiko aussetzen, die Krankheit in andere Länder einzuführen.
Falls es die veterinärmedizinische Situation erlaubt, prüfen wir Möglichkeiten, das Treffen zu einem alternativen Herbsttermin zu organisieren. Ob dies nur im Rahmen des offiziellen Treffens mit Betriebsbesuchen oder zusätzlich mit einer Ausstellung stattfinden könnte, werden die kommenden Wochen und Monate zeigen. Die Situation in der Slowakei ist für uns neu, und wir können ihre Entwicklung derzeit nicht abschätzen.
Ich bin sicher, dass Sie nachvollziehen können, wie sehr uns diese Komplikationen leidtun. Gleichzeitig bin ich jedoch fest davon überzeugt, dass Sie als Züchter vollstes Verständnis für diese Entscheidung haben werden.

The next meeting of the Beef Simmental working group will take place in the Czech Republic the last weekend in April 2025 as a part of the Czech National Beef Simmental Show which will be held in Brno (27. – 30.4.2025) - National Show Brno 2025
